Enrollment Process

Enrollment Policy

VCA will admit all pupils who wish to attend the Charter School as outline in Education Code 47605

(d)(2)(A). VCA will not discriminate against any student on the basis of disability, gender, nationality, race

or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that is listed in Education Code Section

220. VCA will be nonsectarian in its programs, admission policies, employment practices, and all other

operations, and shall not charge tuition. VCA will adhere to all laws establishing minimum age

requirements for public school attendance.


Enrollment Procedures/Lottery Timeline

  1.      A "lottery form” will be available to all interested parents/guardians in the school office on January 22, 2019. A submitted form must contain the name of the student, birth date, grade, address, home number, parents’/guardians’ names and current school of attendance.


  1.     All lottery forms must be received by 2:30 p.m. on March 7, 2019. One form must be submitted per student. School office personnel will confirm that the form has been received and give each parent a confirmation notice. If more than one form per student has been submitted, that student will be disqualified.


  1.     A drawing will be held at the Charter School site on March 8, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Village Charter Academy.


  1.     All names will be drawn and recorded on a chart in order, so that those students who will be enrolled will be clearly identified for all participants to view.


  1.     When all spaces have been filled, names drawn from that point on will be placed in order of drawing on a waiting list.


  1.     This process will continue until all forms have been drawn and all names are listed on the chart.


  1.     The Monday following the drawing, VCA staff will call and notify the parents of students to be enrolled and those on the waiting list.


  1.      Parents of students on the waiting list will be informed as to the student’s place on the list.


  1.      Parents selected for enrollment will be informed that all enrollment documentation must be completed no later than April 12, 2019 by 12:00 p.m.. If the documents are not completed within this timeframe, the student will lose their spot and the next name will be taken from the waiting list.


  1.     When a student from the waiting list is offered enrollment, the parent/guardian will have three (3) days to determine whether to accept or reject the offer of enrollment and complete the enrollment process.


  1.     Lottery procedures and timelines will be posted yearly in the main office beginning


  1.      The Human Resources manager of the Charter School will maintain all forms for all students who participated in the lottery for one year as well as the chart documenting the order of the names selected.
