Welcome to Miss Solum's Kindergarten Class! I am excited to be a member of the Village Charter Academy family. Prior to joining this amazing family, I was an intervention teacher specializing in the primary grades.
A little bit about me: I have one older brother and one younger sister. I also have 4 nieces and 2 nephews. I love to travel and my favorite countries to visit are Australia and Ireland. I graduated with a BA in Dance and a concentration in Graphic Arts from Loyola Marymount University, and then got my Master's in Business and my Teaching Degree from California Lutheran University. Most important - I am a HUGE Dodger fan!! Since I have season tickets, I can't wait for them to win the World Series this year.
I love teaching kindergarten students as they are so eager to learn. They enjoy the world around them and absorb everything, like little sponges. I am thrilled to be able to experience this adventure with them.
Kings and Queens Day!! We celebrated our end of the Kings and Queens Unit with a dress up day.
100th Day!!! Our class had the best day celebrating the 100th Day. We made fruit loop necklaces, portraits of our 100 year old selves and crowns.
Our Native American Unit was a lot of fun! We played in a tipi, made our own clay pots and dream catchers. Next unit is Kings and Queens.
Our Healthy Habits Week ended with visit from a Dentist. We learned the importance of taking care of our teeth!!!
