Village Charter Academy closed in response to the guidance of our local government, state government, and local school districts on Monday, March 16, 2020, and will continue physical school closure through at least May 5. This continues to be very fluid and can be extended depending on what is learned in the upcoming weeks. Village Charter Academy does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our school community. This decision to close schools taken out of an abundance of caution as the safety and health of our students and team members is our number one priority.
California Governor Newsom announced that schools might be closed through summer. We do not know what will happen yet, but we are making plans in case we are not able to return this school year. Our priority is the safety of children, so we will follow the guidelines set by the state and county officials. We are now shifting our instruction to distance learning, in order for instruction to continue, even if physical school closures continue.
We hope that all of our school community continues to be safe and healthy. Please follow Governor Newsom and Mayor Garcetti’s mandates to Stay at Home, practice social distancing, and wash your hands. We look forward to the time when we can all be together again on campus.
